Young Black Female Empowerment. Charitable Appeal.

Dear Readers,

I am reaching out and appealing to you as a Trustee of Peace Child International for funding to continue our self-help/ business training project in Sierra Leone that transforms – and, at this time of crisis, possibly saves – the lives of some of the world’s poorest and most vulnerable young families. We would be so grateful if you would consider donating to us here.

PCI works in remote villages across Sierra Leone helping marginalised young women to secure a livelihood and become financially independent for life. We do this by providing innovative image based business and entrepreneurship trainings designed specifically for illiterate young women, or women with low literacy. We help them gain the skills and confidence they need to create and grow a sustainable business that generates sufficient income to feed themselves & their families, afford vital medicines and send their children to school.

The impact of PCI’s trainings are extraordinary: we have trained over 10,000 young people over the last 10 years and found that, on average, their earnings have more than doubled; self-confidence and community cohesion has also improved and the women’s personal and business confidence has increased by close to 100%. As one young woman put it: “I am illiterate so I never dreamed it would be possible for me to run a successful business all by myself. I was so happy to learn. It has changed my life and made me much happier”

In these difficult and unsure times, we cannot get out to shops easily, we can’t so much as indulge our coffee shop habits, gym habit, but sparing a little as one weeks coffee habit could make a significant difference in enabling a young female to be trained, to be facilitated in her journey to running a business, to being able to support her family.

Overseas development does not come cheap – but, PCI’s programmes are incredibly cost-effective: for every women trained, the young women’s earnings will rise by an average $125 a month and we expect this to continue increasing over their lifetime. Please help support these amazing young women to build a prosperous future for themselves and their families. Please donate whatever you can today by clicking here.

Yours faithfully,
