Ladies and Gentleman, in case you didn’t get the memo; black is well and truly back. It’s not that it ever really went away, it’s always been a safe haven as far as I’m concerned, but you know how we venture off into that experimentation at the urge of the fashion press to branch out into bright and vivid beautiful colours.
Then we remember, we’re grown ups, and black is where it’s at.
Just look at the front rows of all the great fashion shows of late, in particular Paris Fashion, we were treated to a number of top celebrities turning up and showing that it really is a case not so much of basic black, but statement black. It’s no longer just a safe colour, to hide when we’re feeling a little unsure, black this season is all about turning heads, standing out and being noticed. Yes much of our fashion aspirations are laid bare for us on the catwalks, but these days we pay just as much attention to the front rows and frequenters of the shows, and this brigade, this season are definitely being photographed outside of the venues in their chicest, sleekest, most stunning ensembles in black, well cut, (generally well expensive) and well thought out to deliver maximum impact.
This is the no nonsense, I know what I’m doing, I’m not hiding, I’m standing up and taking my fashion pretty damned serious, so you better take me pretty damned serious vibe of this seasons black. You’re not playing at dressing up, you mean business, and your business is most definitely looking good.
As we know, the catwalks and shows are were the fashions are revealed, but it is the high street where we really lay it down in the fashion stakes, emulating, advancing, mixing it up, and there’s a great deal ofchoice out there right now as far as the colour black is concerned, serious, geek chic, all office chic, all business or striking siren of the night. It’s all out there just waiting for you to discover it. This is not about hiding in something comfortable and safe, no more basic black, this is on a whole new level, it is statement black. Come over to the dark side and let’s see just some of what’s waiting for you.
